The cottage

A log cottage the way it should be

The heart of the cottage is the světnice – the traditional living room – dominated by an oak table with four chairs and a bench seating the full house. A fireplace sets the mood, and a comfortable daybed and a smart TV are there for lazy evenings. Also downstairs are a fully equipped kitchen and, off the entry hall, a bathroom with a shower, toilet and washing machine.

A staircase with hand-cut treads leads up to two attic bedrooms. Each has four beds with brand-new quality mattresses and bedding plus a built-in wardrobe; one also has a baby cot ready.

The spacious garden offers a pool, a roofed pergola with seating, a gas grill and a classic fire pit for roasting sausages. Children get a climbing frame with a slide, the ever-popular nest swing, two swings, a small climbing wall and a trampoline. Parking is right on the property.

History

A house that remembers

Local carpenters built the cottage from pine over a hundred years ago – exactly the way houses were always built in the foothills of Bohemian Paradise. It has everything a true log cottage should: log walls, white-limed joints, massive beams and a hipped roof that shields the house from the north wind.

The authentic charm of the old house lives on in the preserved low doorways between the rooms. And it takes only a few steps from the cottage for the breathtaking, iconic view of Trosky Castle to open up before you.
